Module 3 Project

For my third and final project I decided to create a learning community using Moodle.  The Moodle page will focus on science.  It will have science videos, assignments, discussions, question and answer forums, and a lot of science content as the year progresses.  Here is a video that walks you through what I have created so far.

Module 2 Continued

Seeds

Try our slideshow creator at Animoto.

Students will write their observations in their science journals.  Then, they will create their own seed investigation and compare their results with the video.

Module 2 Project

For my second project I decided to develop and borrow some instructional videos that I can use to flip my science instruction this upcoming year.  To develop videos I used some free websites: screencast-o-matic, VoiceThread, SlideRocket, and Animoto.  I borrowed videos from PBS Learning Media, Simpson Science, Sophia, and YouTube.  This module will focus on flipping the first science unit that we study.

Unit 1- Plants and Animals
This video will introduce plant parts and their functions.  Students will be asked to draw a plant and label their parts and the function of their parts.

I am currently taking a class on web tools.  Our goal (as I understand it) is to use different web tools to create projects that we will use during school year.  I created a website using Google sites that parents and students can view and watch instructional videos on.  My hope is that I will be able to send less emails to parents and post everything they need to know on my site.  I am picturing that I will be able to semi-flip my classroom for the students, at least in science.  I will post instructional videos that they will be able to view at home, or at school if they do not have access to a computer, and then we will be able to do labs and investigations in class.

I saw this video at a conference and thought I would share it because it is pretty amazing.
